Home of the famous Elbe Train Rides is a "must do." And the Scale Shack has great shakes and burgers! There are other great places to eat as well, grocery stores, gas station, along with a couple of espresso stands, and a post office. There is also a fantastic Horse Back Riding experience available! Located just 10 minutes West of the cabin.
This large reservoir is fed by the Nisqually River, which originates at the Nisqually Glacier on Mt Rainier. Alder Lake is located just 15 minutes West of the cabin. There are boat ramps and docks for mooring, fishing, water sports, swim areas, picnic and camping areas. The day areas at Rocky Point Recreation Area and Sunny Beach Point do not charge for day use, but the main entrance to Alder lake at Alder Lake Park does charge a day use fee in the summer months.
Nestled in the forested mountains in view of the majestic Mount Rainier, Mineral Lake, located only 17 miles from the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park and easily accessible off Highway 7 between Elbe and Morton, offers some of the best trout fishing in western Washington. A Washington State Trout Management Lake, Mineral Lake is stocked with Rainbow, German Brown, Triploid Steelhead and Brood Stock. Both Cutthroat and crayfish are natural inhabitants. The natural feed in the lake from decomposed logs and freshwater shrimp boosts the fertility of Mineral beyond the norm for lakes in western Washington and promotes rapid growth and big healthy fish well over 11 pounds. The lake is about 25 minutes southwest from the cabin. Here is a website for fishing info there: Mineral Lake Fishing
